I hope everyone had a nice break! As usual, I took home many books and had an ambitious reading list. I did get through some of it! Here was what I was hoping to read:
1. A few chapters of Enrique’s Journey by Sonia Nazario
2. At least 10 chapters of The Host by Stephenie Meyer
3. Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
4. Daytripper by Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon
5. Boxers by Gene Luen Yang
6. Saints by Gene Luen Yang
And, what I was able to get done!
1. I did read a few chapters of Enrique’s Journey. It is a good book about a boy who travels from Honduras to find his mom after she had come to the US to make more money.
2. I did not get to read any of The Host. This is the book we chose for book club; good thing I have read it before!
3. Chronicle of a Death Foretold I did get to read. It is an interesting murder mystery book about a man who gets married, but then finds out his wife is not a virgin and so returns her to her family. When asked who her lover was, she tells them, and her brothers set out to kill him.
4. Daytripper is a graphic novel. This one was interesting because we followed one character through his life, but with different decisions he made, his life ended. The story makes you think about the choices you make and how they will impact you and those around you.
5. and 6. I did not get to these. They are both graphic novels about The Boxer Rebellion. The author also wrote American Born Chinese, which is a great book, so I can’t wait to read these.
So, I did get some reading done, but I always have a pile of books a mile high. Hope you got some good reading done last week!
