Isn’t that one of the best things about the library?  You can walk in, anytime, and borrow a book for a period of time.  And there are so many to choose from!  Last night, my son wanted to pretend we live at the library – sign me up!  I love being surrounded by the stories and knowledge of thousands of books.

And now, with all the technology we have at our fingertips, we have access to books even when our physical libraries are closed.  Overdrive, our district ebook company, allows us to access ebooks at all hours of the day or night.

Right now, through October 21, Overdrive is sponsoring the Big Read, which allows simultaneous access to two ebooks for readers across the globe – there is no wait list, no fines, just two free books to check out and read!

The books are: A Door in the Hedge by Robin McKinley and In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters, which I am currently reading.  It is about the influenza pandemic of 1918, with some magic and ghosts, along with a love story, thrown in to give it some extra layers.  It’s pretty good!

Grab a device, download the Overdrive app, and start reading!  Here are some directions, if you need them, to get started.  You can click the image below to go to the computer version of Overdrive.

overdriveHappy Reading!
